Costa Rica is famous for its volcanoes, its lush forests and its national parks. This itinerary will give you the opportunity to have a little bit of all this. Start your Costa Rica’s discovery with the Arenal area where the Arenal Volcano’s perfect conical shape stands out in the undulating landscape and can be admired from far away. Visit the area of Monteverde, a real paradise for researchers and nature lovers, thanks to the tremendous variety of flora and fauna (especially birds) that can be seen within its boundaries and in its protected areas.

Day 1 Welcome to Costa Rica

Upon arrival to Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, an airport representative will lead you to immigration area and customs. After clearing official entry procedures, our bilingual representative will be waiting outside the terminal. He/She will assist you with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel. On the way to the hotel you will receive a complete orientation on following day’s activities and travel documents. Night spent at Presidente Hotel or another similar one.

Day 2 Transfer to Arenal

The Arenal Volcano is the main attraction of this area. Its almost perfect conical shape is the perfect image of a typical volcano. The degree of volcanic activity varies from week to week; sometimes there is a spectacular display of flowing red-hot lava and incandescent rocks flying through the air; at other times, the volcano is peaceful and gently glows in the dark. Night spent at ARENAL VOLCANO INN.

Day 3 Arenal Hike and Hot Springs

Enjoy the pleasure of the most extraordinary view of the Arenal volcano during a pleasant hike; this amazing attraction will surely take your breath away. This motivating hike starts at the volcano’s slopes, from a very safe distance. After the stimulating hike you will admire the lush tropical gardens and relax on natural hot springs which offer various pools with temperatures reaching 102º F (39º C). WHAT TO BRING: Insect repellent, walking shoes, comfortable clothes, sun block, hat, binoculars and camera. Included: transportation, bilingual guide (English/Spanish), entrance fee, and snacks. Night spent at ARENAL VOLCANO INN or a similar one.

Day 4 Monteverde by Lake

This transfer/tour is a scenic way to go from Arenal to the Monteverde area; it includes a 30min. drive to the Arenal Lake. Here you will go onboard a comfortable and safe boat for a 30 to 40min. ride to Río Chiquito, a small town at the other side of the lake. A vehicle will be waiting to drive you to your hotel in Monteverde (app.1 ½ hours).

Day 5 Transfer to Manuel Antonio

Transfer to Manuel Antonio area in Quepos. These are two separate but completely interdependent Central Pacific coast towns. Quepos is a town where you will find a hospital, banks, markets, stores, hotels, bars, restaurants and a bus terminal. Manuel Antonio, located to the south is much smaller. It extends along both sides of the road, which stretches 4 ½ miles (7.24 km) up the hill and then down to the Manuel Antonio National Park. It is one of the most beautiful parks in the country with evergreen forests which provide natural shade from the tropical sun, gorgeous white sand beaches and trails leading to wonderful lookouts with breathtaking views. Night spent at the CALIFORNIA HOTEL or similar one.

Day 6 Manuel Antonio National Park

Let an experienced naturalist guide take you on an informative hike through one of the most beautiful national parks, where the mountains literary meet the sea. The ecosystem is teeming with land, sea and air species. This park offers two white sand beaches, a blue ocean and trails which lead to great lookout points. Your guide will teach you about the park’s distinctive plant life and will point out some of the resident fauna, which include 109 mammal species (such as 3 species of monkeys, agouti, and three - toed sloth) and 184 species of birds. WHAT TO BRING: Suntan lotion (sun block), swimsuit, and towel, beach sandals, insect repellent, camera & hat. Night spent at CALIFORNIA HOTEL or similar one.

Departure Transfer service to San Jose (Costa Rica’s Capital). Estimated arrival to San Jose 12 noon. Last night in San Jose can be included for an extra charge.
